Department of Home Science
The history of the Department of Home Science dates back to 1995, the very year in which the college started functioning. The Home Science department is conducting graduate and postgraduate courses. B. Sc. Family and Community Science course was started in 1995 with Chemistry and Zoology as Complementary Subjects and M. Sc. Home Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) course introduced in 2020.
- B. Sc. Family and community science being an applied science, the syllabus has been structured in such a manner that it equips the student with a general idea of the streams and keeping in mind the unique requirements of B. Sc. Family and Science students.
- M. Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics course is concerned with the principles of the nutritional values in food and their impacts on the human body. M. Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics course syllabus specially covers the topics related to the Fundamentals of Nutrition, Food Microbiology, Nutritional Management, Diet Therapy, Sports Nutrition and more. This course offers lots of job opportunities in India and abroad. The candidates, who have completed their post-graduation course in Nutrition and Dietetics, professionally work as a Dietician or Nutritionists in any Private or Govt. Hospitals, Public Health Organizations, National/ International Food Organizations or any other sectors.
The department provides a well equipped Nutrition Lab, Textile Lab and Bio Chemistry Lab to cater the requirements of both UG and PG students.
